How to refill your DI tank with resin
There are many ways and tricks to refill your DI tank with resin and you would have thought that it would be relatively easy task.
Not So Fast
We should produce a t shirt saying tried and failed relating to how to refill your DI tank with resin as it’s not quite as easy as it seems unless that is you have the correct equipment and by this I mean a refill funnel.
Resin Funnel
With something a simple a a funnell make this trick job very easy. Now resin is a thick dry material made up of tiny beads that believe or not do not flow like sand but rather stick together like damp sugar. So the advantage of this funell is that it has a wide mouth that fits exactly into the 2 1/2″ tank opening.
Now this job is fairly easy with two people (as we have found out the hard way) one person holds the funnel and one person pours in the resin. Or if you are using a jug this can be achieved by one person, hold the funnel with one hand whilst adding the resin with the other. You may also need to poke the resin through the funnel to assist this process. Do not spill the resin on the floor as you can very easily slip and hurt yourself.
It’s also very important to tamp your tank as you go to ensure that the resin is compacted down, at this point you may want to add a little water to help the resin settle. You should be able to get the whole of the 1 cu ft bag of resin into our Pro 100 Tanks and 1/2 cu ft into the Pro 50 Tanks
